Test for Structural Integrity Before New Construction on Existing Foundation in Brooklyn, NY
Project Description:
This project was performed in Brooklyn, NY for a concrete testing firm. The project was to investigate and inspect new construction for proofing: rebar, and grouted cells of (CMUs)- concrete masonry units. Void cells or lack of reinforcements needed to be identified. In addition, the building needed its structural footers to be investigated for reinforcements and rebar for its load capacity and structural integrity. Before any “over-building” or continuation of the building being erected, they needed proof and investigation of what they had, already standing in place to work with. The technicians used the GSSI Mini XT 2.7 GHz concrete scanner/GPR (handheld GPR). The first and last photos show data collected on the reinforcements and structural components. The middle two photos show how we depicted the findings.
