Professional Mapping and Marking Communications Line Conduits through Concrete for Penthouse in Manhattan, New York City, NY
Project Description:
The client wanted to have his own IT and communications line fed to their private penthouse in New York City. In order to do so, a separate “riser” of lines needed to be fed from the basement, up approximately 50 floors. Each floor from top to bottom needed to have all active conduits in the concrete slab marked and identified for 4-inch cores to be performed on each floor from top to bottom. After using the GPR concrete scanner to identify all reinforcements and potential electrical conduits residing in the slab, we took the extra layer of investigation and time with the RD8000 to collect any additional data that would be consistent with electrical conduits residing in their proposed coring locations. We were able to identify reinforcement (painted in blue), and multiple electrical conduits (marked in red), all with depths beneath the surface; for the most optimal space to perform a core safely. These would otherwise be easily hit and would lead to costly repairs. Most other concrete scanning firms do not take the additional time and layer of investigation, to account for the potential electrical conduits, which leads to dangerous working conditions, and expensive repairs.
